I have given this product five stars because i simply could not find a fault with it. It was easy to put together and provided you are techy minded it is a doddle to connect. The way that i found worked best was leaving the hmdi that runs from my tv to my ps3 in place. Then i had a optical audio out running from ps3 to the head unit of the sound system. Then i had a hdmi running from the head unit of the sound system to the TV. That way the sound is able to be played from the dvd/cd player of the surround sound and all the other functions of the unit from the normal menus when i select hdmi 3 for example from the source list on the tv, and it also plays sound when i play games, watch blu rays when i select d.in from the menu on the surround sound and then hdmi 4 from the source list on the tv.

If i wanted to watch normal tv and have the sound play through the speakers i would need to connect phono leads (red and white) to the tv and then run them to the head unit of the surround sound and select aux 2 from the function list on the unit.

    Hope this helps.

P.S, the sound quality is great and if you already have a blu ray player then i wouldn’t really bother getting anything more expensive. Would just be overkill!

This surround sound is brilliant! The sound quality is amazing and really does sound as if your at the cinema. This is very easy to set up but can be very time consuming, you have to screw in the base stands which is very easy, and then you have to screw the speaker to the stand. Once that is done it was time to plug everything in.

All the speaker cable is colour coded so you can’t go wrong when pluging it in, all you have to do is match it to the colour on the back of the DVD player unit.

I also brought the wireless speaker unit, which again is very easy to set up, Its a small box which you plug your rear speakers into, your also supplied with a small card which just slots into the back of the DVD player unit, it slots in just how a usb stick would. There are no codes that you need to put into pair the speakers with the unit. All you need to to is make sure everything is pluged in correctly before switching everything on, the samsung unit will configure everything automatically for you.

You can literally not go wrong in setting up this surround sound.

I have PS3 with a digital optical cable running to the surround sound, when watch a blu-ray player on the PS3 the sound is amazing, if you purchase the surround sound put in Saving private ryan on blu-ray into your PS3 you will feel every bullet and explosion!

I also have my Sky HD box pluged into it using the red and white cable, people have said on other reviews that you should use another digital optical cable but you will have to buy a Digital optical switcher, these can be a pain as you have to manualy switch everytime you want to use different equipment.

Overal I would give this product 10/10, havent come across a negative at all yet!

bought this from here because at [...] its[...]!!!

ONLY DOWNSIDE I HAD WITH THIS WHEN IT TURNED UP WAS THE MISSING SPEAKER {THE SUBWOOFER}………..But i went online to amazon an ordered a replacement with no problems whatsoever!

its quite loud, sound quality is on par with £500+ home cinema surrounds!I currently have it in my living room connected to my ps3 and my hd sky box with hdmi cable, optical lead,[ the reciever only has 1 optical out on the back so just buy a 2 way optical splitter and u can run the surround with 2 pieces of equipment attached!

Subwoofer has very good deep bass [i keep my sub in the corner of my room as u get the best bass from there]

controls are fine easy to use well for me anyway,BUT 1 THING I DIDNT LIKE THAT U CANT TURN THE SUBWOOFER DOWN WHILST WACTHING A DVD OR USING UR PS3 U HAVE TO STOP WHAT UR DOING AND GO INTO THE MENU SETTINGS AND THEN U CAN TURN IT DOWN!!!

Over all the system is stylish great sound quality also i love the tall boy speakers very stylish!! u wont be dissapointed…Also it dosent distort whatsoever i get clear sound even if i crank the volume up just tell ur neighbours in advance if u do though lol.9/10

    thx

THIS PRODUCT WAS MORE OVER GOOD THAN I EXPECTED.. I SIMPLY RATE IT 10/10.. I HAD A SONY HOME CINEMA WHICH I BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO, I WANTED TO CHANGE IT FOR THIS NEW SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE.. THE BOX WAS MASSIVE, IT WAS EASY TO SCREW UP THE SPEAKERS, BTW THE REAR SPEAKERS ARE ALL WIRED BUT IT DOESNT REALLY MATTER IF YOU WANT TO CONVERT YOUR REAR SPEAKERS TO WIRELESS SIMPLY BUY THE SWA-5000 FROM AMAZON WHICH IS QUITE CHEAP.. ITS ALSO VERY EASY TO CHANGE FUNCTIONS BETWEEN USB, DVD/CD, AUX 1 ECT.. WITH JUST ONE CLICK ON THE FUNCTION BUTTON.. THE USB GIVES AMAZING PICTURE QUALITY ESPECIALLY IF YOUR WATCHING MOVIES OR VIDEOS ON YOUR USB.. (I’V GOT A 60 INCH PLASMA)

    SIMPLY GREAT!!!

PURCHASE NOW AND BELIEVE ME YOU WONT REGRET THIS AMAZING SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE

(I DID EXPRESS DELIVERY, ARRIVED NEXT DAY AT 11:30AM)

    ENJOY!!!!!!

Ordered this item mid May was a bit sceptical at first cause it had no ratings but it’s great easy to set up and sound is great for the price. DVD player has 108p upscaling which i reckon is actually better than Blu-ray via a PS3. The only issue is that you have to purchase an digital optical cable to link you sky or virgin or ps3 or xbox up to it if you want to hook up more than 1 you need to buy 3 cables and a splitter which I have done can get from Amazon for under £20 from these links http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000BN6LIG/ref=oss_product and http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002VBAZ60/ref=oss_product. Oh and you’ll need to buy a HDMI cable if you intend actually using the DVD player as there is also not one in box. That’s my only gripe why sell an upscaling dvd player without the cable required.

Cable that come with rear speakers are ample for your average sized living room.

All in all can’t grumble for getting such a neat system for under £150.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this as, at the time of purchasing, there were no reviews I could find on the net for this item. However I thought I would take a chance as I was in dire need of a decent 5.1 surround system with DTS. I have to say, for the money this is a very good system and I am very pleased with it. It was packed very well and very easy to set up with all the speakers and cable colour coded for ease of use.

The system itself is finished in Piano black which on the plus side is very nice to look at but has the disadvantage of being a magnet for dust.

On to the performance. I really only wanted this to play my PS3 through. I had looked at stand alone surround sound systems but they were actually more expensive than this system. It has optical in and plays both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS – however this will not play DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD just to be clear, but will still decode and play regular DTS and Dolby really well. Sound is very good – nice mid range and can be fine tuned via on screen menus. It has a passive sub woofer which is a bonus if you dont have too many plug sockets spare.

Picture wise – this is a very good DVD player with great upscaling (actually better than the PS3 at upscaling). Nice remote control with some glow in the dark buttons !!!!

It has a USB socket on the front which I have heard can take a portable drive up to 250gb.

This system can also play DivX files and photo CD’s

This system will be laughed at by ‘purists’ but if you want a good sounding system with great upscaling capabilities then this is a very good buy. Good choice of inputs enabling you to plug your Sky+, Virgin box, Xbox or PS3 through.

After many hours of searching I decided to go for the Samsung HT-C450, mainly due to the DVD up scaling and optical cable connection capability (to connect to the SKY HD box). After connecting it all up I was amazed with the sound quality. A perfect system for anybody who wants to experience the 5.1 surround sound for the first time.

As previous comments have stated you have to purchase cables separately, I went for (1) optical cable from

SKY > SAMSUNG, (1) HDMI cable from SAMSUNG > LCD T.V. (All dependent on your T.V configuration set up).

I would recommend you take time in the speaker arrangement and try to follow the speaker layout in the manual, I’ve noticed it does enhance the sound quality if you try for the optimum layout as Samsung suggests.

Overall a great looking system, with suburb sound quality. Recommended

after days and days of pondering whether to buy this product i decided to go with the reviews and hit the purchase button. was i disappointed?? not a chance!! great system for the money which sounds and looks great. the menu screens and instructions are simple and straightforward, i was watching my fave films in great surround sound in no time!

only thing is the fact you have to purchase an HDMI cable to be able to take advantage of the dvd upscale facility (which is impressive) and if you want to hook it up to your sky box and ps3-xbox you have to buy 3 optical cables and a splitter, which arnt to expensive on here.

all in all for the money its great and you cant go wrong!!

a great system, looks and sounds fantastic, the DVD up-scaling is also very good, still not used all the functions yet but very impressed with the long list of extras this machine has. comes with plenty of speaker wire for my 15 x 20 room. you will need to buy an HDMI cable for the TV and optical cable for sky or PS3 etc. not had sound more than half way as i didn’t want my windows breaking, there may be better systems out there but not at this price, would recommend this Samsung highly. also easy to set up, all speakers wires are colour coded so you can’t go wrong.
