Been using this netbook for about a week now and have fallen in love with it’s light weight and looks.

The case is glossy black so is prone to fingerprints (no big deal though).

The screen is very nice indeed, bright colours and despite the 10.1 inch size its very easy to navigate and read text.

It’s also very light so is great to take anywhere and with the 6 cell battery it will last 5 hours +.

The OS is Windows XP Home which is very easy to configure to your specifications.

Comes with 1GB of ram (easily upgradable to 2 GB Max).

An excellent purchase for anyone wanting a small, light take anywhere netbook.

    Recommended.

I bought this notebook for my wife who is taking a recreational OU course and she loves it. I read as many of the reviews as I could before deciding on the Acer which had the least number of negative comments by far. The notebook was extremely easy to set up and operate, the keyboard deserves particular praise. My wife does not find the compact screen size a disadvantage and likes the overall compactness and light weight. She did not find the touch pad to her liking so I added a small USB mouse which overcame this issue. There has been no particular problems with internet, skype or any of the usual software but do not find Android of any value. The battery life has been pretty well as specified and providing 6 hours usage from so small a unit is remarkable. This unit has impressed so much so my daughter has just bought one as well. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Acer Aspire One to others.

I purchased this Netbook a couple of months ago and since then I more or less carry it with me all the time as it is almost as essential to me as a carrying a mobile phone. Its sturdy, compact, light (1KG) and very usable being more or less the size and weight of a book and fits nicely into a bag or rucksack it when in a neoprene sleeve – in comparison to a normal laptop .

The battery is 6hrs which is good but can actually last about 8hrs is the brightness of the display is turned down. The screen size and the keyboard whilst smaller than a regular laptop are more than adequate – the screen is bright and clear. Sound quality is excellent using head phones but the built in speakers a too quiet an tinny so some users might want to get a pair external speakers and likewise, the Netbook lacks a DVD drive, again a external portable can be purchased as well. I have tested the web cam to haven’t really made use of it.

Excellent for internet access when down the pub or watching a BBC I player download on the train or bus and for writing a word document in bed. The machine generally performs well at basic tasks like web surfing and using ms office which is mainly what it to be used for. BBC I player playback is a bit sluggish picture wise but I think that is more a problem with I player as I don’t have a problem with content on Google video or You Tube.

It comes dual boot with Windows XP and Google Android. I haven’t used Android much. Ok there isn’t is pile of free software with it but these days it isn’t a problem since its mainly for web surfing and also Software as Office 2007 Home and Student or Norton 360 and other programs can be loaded on up 3 machines.

All in all, an excellent purchase which I am well happy with.

I have had this netbook a matter of days, however, I have used it alot already.

    I love it.

The appearance of this Acer Aspire One netbook is without a doubt one of the most attractive netbook’s I have seen.

The keys are easy to type with, and everything seems organised. I also like how there is a slot for SD cards, which can take a variety of different SD cards.

The webcam that is built in, isn’t top of the range, but is perfectly adequate for general use.

The battery life appears to last as long as it says it should.

There is definatly a good amount of memory with this netbook, more than I will ever use anyway! (And i’m music mad!)

The brightness is also great, and can be adjusted to suit any enviroment, indoor or out.

However,, the volume isn’t great, even at max volume videos/music are very hard to hear, therefore I would advise headphones or external speakers.

In my opinion the only major downside to this netbook is the Android system that comes with it, its there, but doesn’t have to be used if you decide not too.

In actual fact, it isn’t explained very clearly, and isn’t made clear what excatly it is meant to do (if you buy this netbook, you will see what I mean) – But like I said, if you don’t like it, or don’t want to use it, you really don’t have too.

So my overall summary, would be that this netbook is a great buy, and definatly one of the most flexiable, capable, simple & easy to use netbook on the market at the moment.

It can be used for near enough anything you wish, whether it be entirely internet browsing, writting up word documents or photograph editting.

    Definatly worth looking into.

    Thanks Acer!!

I’ve had this netbook for just over a week now, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get a portable reasonable spec netbook for surfing or emailing. The screen is clear and bright, and though I haven;t managed to get 6 hours out of the battery yet, I have managed around 5, which is still pretty decent.

My only gripe would be that the version of Andriod that comes pre-installed alongside XP is rubbish. I turned it off almost straight away, which was a bit of a disappointment as I have an Android phone, and it is a far superior version. But once you get over that, and uninstalled all the junk that you normally get on a new PC (which I did very quickly), the rest of the machine is great.

I’ve knocked 1 star off for the poor Android distribution, other than that, it’s a great little machine.
