What a great alternative to those £400 units!,
I have already done a review for the sister product which was shipped with Android 2.2, 4gb internal memory.
Although an excellent tablet, it did have a couple of issues, the main one being a faulty G Sensor.
Here I must praise unequivocally the service provided by Quality Stores, who took back the original unit, provided advice and suggestions, and recognising the faulty G Sensor was an issue, replaced it with this unit.
It isn’t to say the other was a result of a common fault, it is just that I feel that they deserve recognition for their support of the customer.
So, how does this version of the tablet compare? It is excellent. If you are looking for something that does not try to sit in the £400 region and place themselves firmly in competition with the Ipad, with a huge choice of market apps both free and purchasable, then this is a wonderful buy, really.
What do I use it for? I use the kindle App for downloading books both free and commercial. It is not brilliant in sunlight I have to agree, but indoors no problem what so ever.
* Angry Birds….excellent
* Music via headphones..excellent
* Storing photos and displaying (temporary albeit)…excellent
* Excellent capacitive screen
* Browsing… excellent, although I would resist the temptation to use anything other than the built in Google search, it works, it works well, and is quick when you have a stable Wi-Fi connection
My only issue is more of a local issue with Wi-Fi and Android (I have the same problem with my Android phone) in that it does not pick up and hold the connection very well, but at work where connection is better, it is quick. My laptop is good indoors, this and as I said, my phone, do not seem to be able to `hold’ the connection very well. Just be aware when you read about it picking up connections brilliantly, it is all down to your setup, not the unit.
It is easy to use, and from first impressions the battery life does seem better. You have to be aware that for the first 3 or 4 times it is best to let it discharge fully before recharging thus building up a `memory’. (Note 21st July – I have since been advised that this is a no-no because it is a L-ion battery it has no ‘memory’ so charging as and when should be ok. The unit I have now charges to 100% which my original did not and seems to be holding the charge longer, although I do not think that under normal use it will achieve the 10 hrs advertised, but I will update this when i have used it a bit more).
Watching BBC Iplayer/You Tube/IMDB are all excellent quality.
Comments have been made about it being heavy. Yes, because the screen is glass. Easy to clean and it gives the unit a sturdy feel.
It is a very well put together tablet, there is no `cheapness’ about it despite the reasonable price, and it comes in a lovely box, making it look and feel like the quality product it is.
I do not anticipate having to bother Quality Stores again with this unit, even though it comes with a no quibble 1 year guarantee.
I would recommend this highly, and especially for non tech savvy individuals. It is an excellent IPad alternative without the `Apple tie in’ and of course cost.

|User friendly and such good fun!,
Before opting for this tab I read a lot of reviews, so was fairly clear what I hoped to find when I opened the box. For once, I was not disappointed.
Confession first – I am no tech wizard. In fact I am a middle aged lady who likes to browse news sites, use e-mail, read books etc. Thus anything too technical was always going to be a challenge. However there were no such problems. Within a few hours using the small but well-written instruction manual, I had all my e-mail accounts working and was merrily discovering the joys of the Android market.
Good points so far-
Excellent response time – iPlayer for instance shows no hint of ‘lumpiness’.
Beautiful clear display and very sensitive touch screen.
Free keyboard supplied with case make life so much easier when entering text. However on-screen keyboard is also straightforward.
Good sound quality.
No problems with wi-fi connection.
Ifs and buts-
Didn’t arrive with Kindle app loaded, so had to download it from the Android market. This was a useful exercise in finding my way around my new toy, and taught me the hard way to use the machine’s menu button to access options in an app. (I was looking for something on screen and getting very frustrated when it wasn’t there!). Of course this was in the instruction booklet, as I realised later.
To summarise, this is an excellent machine in terms of both its construction and performance. By picking and choosing from Android market it can be adapted for the needs of any user, be they a professional, a young social networker, or a middle aged amateur like me. It offers all you could ask at half the price of equivalent performing tabs. Great!

|Good Build Quality & Battery,
I recieved the G7 from the vendor very promptly and in perfect condition.
Upon unboxing, I was immedeatly impressed with the build quality. I have a similarly priced Archos tablet which I am constanly in fear of breaking. The build quality on the Cambridge Sciences tablet is similar to the Galaxy Tab.
I have enjoyed the responsive touchscreen, and good battery for the last few weeks, and it appears that I have found a budget tablet without any of the budget drawbacks.
Highly recommended
